One of the “founding fathers” of hhpberlin is Dr. Karl-Heinz Schubert, who has been advising hhpberlin as a member of the advisory board since 2000.

Fire protection practically runs in his blood: for thirty years, Dr. Karl-Heinz Schubert was active in the field of precautionary fire protection.  His career includes the position of deputy fire director of the Land of Berlin.  He is a member of a multitude of committees in Germany and has contributed to the legislative process in establishing rules for precautionary fire protection.

Dr. Karl-Heinz Schubert has received the gold Feuerwehr-Ehrenkreuz (honorary cross) of the Deutscher Feuerwehrverband (German Association of Firefighters) and the honorary medal of the Vereinigung zur Förderung des Deutschen Brandschutzes (Association Promoting Fire Protection in Germany).

Prof. Dr. Dietmar Hosser likewise is a member of the hhpberlin advisory board.

As a construction engineer, he was active in the field of planning load-bearing structures as well as a scientist at the Technische Hochschule (University of Technology) Darmstadt.  Following his Ph.D., Prof. Dietmar Hosser worked as an executive in a Frankfurt engineering firm and was an adjunct lecturer at the universities of Darmstadt and Kassel.

Since 1986, he has held the Chair for Fire Protection and Basic Principles of Solid Structures at the Institut für Baustoffe, Massivbau und Brandschutz (Institute for Construction Materials, Solid Structures and Fire Safety) of the Technical University of Braunschweig.

In the course of his professional activities, Prof. Dietmar Hosser has provided decisive impulses to teaching and research, as well as to the practical development of fire protection.  He has focused particularly on engineering methods and in many instances, his research has been seminal for the progress made in the field.
